Dogs Available for Adoption

Calla.jpg

Adoption Pending!

This cutie is Calla.

And here's what she has to say:

I’m a mature 10 year old female looking for a mature family, or companion, to spend the rest of my life with. I enjoy going for walks and hope you can keep up with me. I love belly rubs, and will give you a loving nudge with my nose to encourage you to keep going. I’m a little slow getting up, or going up the stairs, but it’s nothing I can’t handle. If you ever leave me home alone, I will patiently wait for you and won’t have any accidents in the house. I would prefer to be your only fur baby so I have all your attention. My foster family says I’m such a sweet girl and anyone would be lucky to have me. Will you be my perfect match?

Just an update on Max!

When this sweet boy came into our care it was questionable if he would ever be adoptable.  He was extremely obese, and in a lot of pain, making him quick to snap.  He did not want to be handled, especially his bum, belly and paws.  He also didn’t seem to like other dogs. An amazing foster came forward, and she has been working hard on getting Max ready for his furever family!  She has been working on his basic manners, like taking treats nicely, nail trims, kennel training, and waiting for the OK to eat his meals.  He lives with a cat and dog foster siblings and gets along with new dogs when introduced properly.  He travels well in the car, and recently took a 6-hour road trip to meet his foster mom’s father and his young doodle. He is continuing to learn and is more comfortable with handling now.  He can be picked up to assist him onto the couch, or into the car.  He does like to eat things he finds on the floor/ground, and he will destroy stuffed toys, so they need to be avoided.  Max is independent, and only likes cuddles on his own terms, but he does like to follow you around and loves being talked to.  He seemed ok when introduced to a young child but given that he doesn’t like to be picked at, we recommend a home with no young children. Between his foster mom and our volunteer dog walker, Max has been making steady progress with his weight loss.  He takes daily glucosamine tablets, as well as a thyroid medication.  We at FurEver Young, and his foster mom, would love to see Max adopted by someone who will commit to continuing his weight loss and working on his behaviours. He has made incredible progress and we believe the right home is waiting for him and he will be a devoted and loving companion.
