Tributes & Memorials

A place to make tribute to our beloved seniors, those that are here with us today, and for those whom have passed...

But who's dreams have been fulfilled.

If you have a story you wish to share, please email us with your story and a picture. We wish to hear all the heart wamring stories of senior animals.

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of sweet Koda who, along with his sister Kiera, were rehomed into an amazing family November 2015... Run free sweet boy. This is what is furever family had to say:

"In the fall of 2015, I had the pleasure to meet Kelsey Marie and through her two new friends Kiera and Koda. It had been a long time since I had called myself a dog owner. Kiera and Koda were brother and sister and both 9 years old and became a welcome addition in my life and my mom's. Both Victoria Martin and Alex Martin my children loved them dearly. Koda especially though was mom's favourite. Like two good friends they would each breakfast lunch and supper together and his routine for ensuring his share was wonderful and frustrating for me to watch. For me they have been awesome companions on the roads and trails and at the cabin. Having animals insist on being walked daily has been a real blessing for me. With mom in the ICU recovering from Urosepsis post Partial Hip Replacement, our friend Koda has taken a new journey. We miss him already."

Brutus came to Furever Young in October 2015. He was 13.5 and had spent the last 7 years of his life outside.

We didn't think he would have much time with us, and the family that wanted him, has 5 children (4 young). She was asked "he might not have long, how will this for your children" a she responded "I want to teach my children to be there for them when they need you the most. ". It was certainly the right answer.

Brutus fit in quickly and easily into the family, going everywhere with them, making it very clear he didn't want to be outside by closing the door with his Nose when offered to go out 😄.

He was a gentleman, a daper, regal dog in his old age. He had dignity.

He got much much longer than we could have expected, but it's never long enough anyway... sometimes it's bitter sweet to see them find their real family, where they belong only to have to be so brief.

We are brought comfort that he was so unconditionally loved and cared for in his final year and months, days and minutes...

He was a real member of the family, loved food, loved stealing the kids food and loved being petted.

Today we said goodbye to another Furever Young dog as Brutus crossed the rainbow bridge with his mom and one of his brothers at his side.

Run free Brutus.
We will see you again on the other side. You were so loved.

RIP sweet Poppie. You were loved by some amazing volunteers at the end of your life. I'm sorry we couldn't save you but you didn't need to go alone. God bless you. Thank you to Annette, Stephanie as well as Kellie (her founder) for being there. Thank you as well to Dr Noseworthy and Sunrise Staff.

~ Fly high to the rainbow bridge sweet one~

"I would like to give a heart felt thank you to Kelsey and Furever Young Senior Animal Rescue for giving me the opportunity to foster and adopt this gentle giant, Colbie. He's brought great joy to my house and I'm forever grateful for the wonderful memories Colbie and I made together.

My house and heart has been empty since his passing, at the age of 10. He was a very loyal and loving pup, always eager to please. He had such a magnificent impact n everyone he's met. I only wish we had more time together, but I am relieved that he is not suffering now and he is now running around in puppy heaven"

Sincerely,

Wade

Chance, although your time with FurEver Young was short - you won over many hearts with your purrs and affection. Rest easy at the Rainbow bridge free from pain. FurEver in our hearts.

Buster was surrendered to FY yesterday and was assessed by a vet. Sadly his condition was too far gone to save him. We made him as comfortable as possible and gave him kisses and cuddles until he took his last breath. You are no longer in pain beautiful boy, run fast and free over the rainbow bridge and find comfort in the arms of angels...
